Soundblox Carbstone absorbs sound and CO2

Circular, Cement-free and CO2 negative!

Soundblox acoustic concrete blocks have been a trusted weapon in the fight against noise pollution for years. These acoustic concrete blocks are the ideal solution for acoustic climate control where important aspects such as acoustics (both sound absorption and sound insulation) and fire resistance can be combined in one structural wall.

Now it turns out Soundblox can also be used as a weapon in the fight against CO2! Not a luxury when you consider that concrete is responsible for 10% of total CO2 emissions worldwide! Using a new technology, Soundblox is actively contributing to the climate transition where “cement-free” production will eventually become the norm. And that without compromising the aesthetic design of a space. It seems too good to be true….

Robust and decorative

Soundblox acoustic concrete blocks, because of their robustness and shape consistency, have also been used for years in rooms with high walls and ceilings such as sports halls and gymnasia but also, for example, in a reception area, school classroom, corridor and auditorium, house of worship, theaters, library, factory, facade, office, conference room, hangars, etc. but they can also be found in rooms with challenging conditions, such as swimming pools and special factory areas. Soundblox are also great to be used in industrial applications. Think of a steel plant, hydroelectric plant, manufacturing facility, distribution center, parking garage and nuclear power plant. In addition, because of their frost resistance, Soundblox are more often used in outdoor applications, along highways, stations and under overpasses.

Soundblox Carbstone : 100% Circular, Cement-free and CO2 negative!

Soundblox are now also available in a new, carbonized version, where they still have the advantages of concrete, but no longer the ecological disadvantages. Unlike traditional concrete blocks, however, these blocks are manufactured with CO2, which is specially extracted from the air and used in production.

These new acoustic Carbstone blocks are virtually indistinguishable from traditional concrete and have virtually the same properties. Carbonized Soundblox, like the traditional well-known acoustic concrete blocks, are equipped with the characteristic and familiar Helmholtz resonators for the absorption of sound, which is absorbed through the openings of the blocks and into the sound chambers behind them. Regular construction blocks, with which Soundblox in a wall can be combined, are also available in this new material.

Soundblox acoustic Carbstone blocks therefore absorb not only sound but also CO2, thus also intrinsically contributing to a sustainable future. In addition, after installation (in the open air) they continue to absorb CO2 and become harder and harder so that their carrying capacity increases even further. Even if transportation is included, this material has a negative CO2 footprint.

Exclusive appearance with natural mossapplication

Soundblox can also be fitted with a decorative and maintenance-free moss. The natural “green” appearance of moss combined with the Soundblox’s sound-absorbing and robust properties combine to create a special synergy.

With this 100% natural moss, moss panels can also be made in any shape and size with which a sound-absorbing wall can be realized using a backing of organic material with high sound-absorbing performance. This moss wall requires no daylight or water or other maintenance and gives any representative space a natural and very exclusive look.
